Nokia Group Leadership Team

Our Articles of Association stipulate that Nokia is to have a Nokia Group Leadership Team (until May 1, 2014 called Nokia Leadership Team), which is responsible for managing the operations of Nokia. The Chairman and the members of the Nokia Group Leadership Team are appointed by the Board of Directors. Only the Chairman of the Nokia Group Leadership Team, the President and CEO, can be a member of both the Board of Directors and the Nokia Group Leadership Team.

On April 29, 2014 Nokia announced changes to its leadership as a result of its new strategy. The members of Nokia Group Leadership team, effective as from May 1, 2014, are set forth below.

Rajeev is a leader with a passion for creating value, generating growth, and delivering technologies that have a positive impact on people’s lives. He has deep expertise in many areas of technology, particularly mobile networks and related topics such as big data analytics, cloud computing, internet business models and more. As CEO of Nokia Solutions and Networks, he delivered a complete turnaround, taking non-IFRS operating profitability from significant losses to among the highest quality in the sector; cash flow from rapid burn to strongly positive; and, based on external analyst estimates, increasing the value of the business from in the range of €1 billion to €9-10 billion. In his earlier roles as head of the Global Services unit and APAC region, he delivered both strong growth and profitability improvements.

In his more than 25 years of international experience, Rajeev has worked in roles comprising strategy and M&A, product marketing, sales, major account leadership, regional and business unit leadership and has lived in Middle East, Asia, Africa and Europe. Rajeev has a Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics and Communications) from Manipal Institute of Technology, India. He was born in India in 1967, is a Singaporean citizen and is based in Espoo, Finland.

Samih Elhage, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial and Operating Officer of Nokia Networks

Samih has more than 24 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. He is known as a strategic and results-oriented senior executive. He joined NSN in March 2012 as Chief Operating Officer. In 2013, Samih became Chief Financial Officer while maintaining his previous responsibilities. Before this, he served as a senior adviser to leading private equity and global management consulting firms. He has been a member of the Executive Board since March 2012 overseeing the transformation of NSN’s business operations that led to considerable improvement in its financial strength.

Samih was born in Lebanon. He is based in Germany, is married and has two children. His pastimes include world music, travelling, walking and golf.

Ramzi is a technology-licensing expert with proven business leadership skills and a strong innovation background. As President of Nokia’s technologies business, he leads the development and licensing of cutting-edge innovations that are powering the next revolution in computing and mobility: a “programmable world” where intelligent connections bring millions of everyday objects online and create exciting new possibilities. 
A trained engineer, Ramzi spent most of his career with Dolby Laboratories, which he helped to grow from a USD 72 million private business into a nearly USD 1 billion thriving public company. During his 17 years with Dolby, he held a variety of roles, most recently with chief operating officer-level responsibility and previously as founding President of Via Licensing Corporation, a Dolby subsidiary, which he led from start-up in 2002 to a profitable, world-class patent licensing organization which has successfully generated royalties since its inception. 
He has led innovation efforts, including those related to Dolby’s technological roadmaps and standards development for BluRay and DVD, the latter winning Dolby a joint Emmy Award in 1999. He has experience in nurturing new technologies in an incubator-like environment and in growing new businesses.
Prior to joining Dolby, Ramzi worked at Stanford Research Systems for seven years.
Ramzi was born in Lebanon and moved to the United States at the age of 17 to continue his education. He holds a BS in electrical engineering and an MS in computer engineering from the University of the Pacific and has completed advanced coursework at Stanford University, the University of California at Berkeley, Harvard University, and the Center for Creative Leadership.
