Nokia acquires security software business from TeamWARE Group

The acquisition will strengthen the Nokia solutions for the mobile Internet both for enterprise and service providers through the addition of a team of security experts. Close to 30 employees in Helsinki, Finland and in Kista, Sweden will join Nokia through the acquisition, which is expected to be completed within a month.

"This acquisition will strengthen Nokia's ability to develop secure network access that will complement our Wireless LAN solutions," says Mr. Markku Rauhamaa, Vice President, Nokia Wireless Network Solutions. "TeamWARE has done remarkable work in developing security solutions that maximize the cost-efficiency and

convenience of the Internet, even in the most security conscious environments. I am pleased to welcome our new colleagues to join us.

Jukka Norokorpi, President & CEO, TeamWARE Group, commented, "TeamWARE recognized early the market requirement for security in networks and today we see a growing need to embed security in all kinds of network devices. Nokia is a world-leading innovator in mobile communications and we are proud of the cooperation we have had with Nokia in developing new communications solutions for corporate customers and ISPs. TeamWARE excels in developing collaborative applications for knowledge-workers. Our solutions like TeamWARE Office and Secure Mail or Pl@za will continue to utilize security technologies, and we will

continue to focus on becoming the leading supplier of software and services for supporting interaction in communities of professionals. This agreement is one of the several steps we have taken lately in order to achieve our goal."

The product technologies that convey to Nokia through the acquisition include TeamWARE Intranet Security Server (TWISS), secure client and Smart Card handling technologies. TWISS provides remote and mobile users with a secure connection to corporate Intranets by authenticating and encrypting connections. The solution supports both WAN and LAN access, and going forward will be focussed on the emerging Access Zones, a key part of the Nokia Wireless LAN Solution. Nokia will continue to serve the needs of the existing customers.

Nokia's Wireless LAN Access Zone is a hotspot solution for secure, mobile network access. Nokia Access Zone offers a new business opportunity for IP network operators and service providers, hotels, wireless ISPs, airports, airlines and convention centers. In the Nokia Access Zone all the hardware and software elements

are integrated into an easy-to-manage platform on which ISPs and enterprises can build various service concepts.
